A guide to the functionalities of the database

Downloading the data

It is possible to download the data by clicking the "Download CSV" text, located in the bottom right corner of the database table. CSV stands for comma-separated values and is the type of data you open in programs like Microsoft Excel. Download the CSV file and open it in Microsoft Excel, easy as that.

Viewing the table in full screen

The table can be viewed in full screen mode by clicking on the "View larger version" in the bottom right hand corner. The table will open in a new window, unless you have a personal setup on your computer, where you have requested a specific, other functionality.

Hiding specific columns

You can turn the visibility of a column off by clicking on the "Hide fields" in the top left corner of the table. The button allows you to choose which column that are displayed in the table, if the symbol to the left of the column name is green, it is on, and if the symbol is gray, it is turned off, while you view the table. Turning them on again can wither happen by clicking on the same button and turning them on again by using the sliders.

Filtering the data

Filtering allows you to see specific records (rows), based on conditions, the conditions are chosen by changing 3 different parameters (a column title, an operator, your specific input) for example, if you wish to see all the rows where the language is English, your condition would be: "where language is EN", this will give you 8 rows of data, that matches your search. Language will be selected first, then an operator will be available to choose and last you will be able to turn on "EN". If more than one language is chosen, in this case, the data shown will be those rows where there are more languages in the same row, and in this case there are none.

Grouping by topics

If you would like to divide the data into separate groups, based on topic, you would be able to do so by using the functionality of "Group" located on the top bar of the table. By grouping by "Author" for example you would be able to see how many records (rows) there are from each Author.

Click on the "Group" button and chose what you would like to group by.

Sorting the data

Sorting the data can be done in two ways.

1. By clicking on "Sort" in the top bar of the table. When you click on the "Sort" button your will be allowed to "pick a field to sort by", you will afterwards be allowed to enter more parameters if you wish to do so. Pick a field from the dropdown and click on either "first-last" or "last-first". As mentioned, a secondary sorting parameter can be entered.

2. By right clicking on the specific row title, for example "Language", you will be allowed to choose wheatear your sorting of that row should be from first-last or last-first.
