The challenge is that the textile craft knowledge is rapidly disappearing, knowledge that we need for our interpretation of the past. As archaeologists we need the basic knowledge of different skills, fibre preparation, spinning, weaving, finishing etc. This knowledge will together with theoretical, chronological and contextual frameworks provide us with a better understanding of the economic social and culture aspects of textile production and further it's complexity and importance.
